Waterfalls of Western North Carolina :: Hidden Falls

Hidden Falls is a nice twenty foot waterfall in the northern section of Panthertown Valley.

Driving Directions: From the intersection of hwy 281 and hwy 64 just east of Toxaway Falls, take hwy 281 north to Rock Bridge rd. Take a left on Rock Bridge rd, staying right at the fork, until you reach the clearing and large camp site at the end. GPS assisted driving directions are available in my iPhone app.

Park in the clearing between the large camp site and the creek. Cross the double log foot bridge or wade the creek if the water is low. Continue a short distance down the trail until you come to a side trail on the left. This trail was flagged with orange tape at my last visit, but never count on flagging to be permanent or for the colors to stay the same. Take this side trail uphill through rhododendron tunnels for about .2 miles until another trail forks downhill to the left. This trail was not marked but is well defined and will take you directly to Hidden Falls.

Follow the Hidden Falls trail downhill into a marshy valley and creek. Cross the creek just downstream from a nice 6 foot cascade and follow the trail around the boulder to Hidden Falls.

If you enjoy Panthertown Valley, please consider supporting the Friends of Panthertown Valley. This 501(c)3 non-profit organization handles much of the trail maintenance in Panthertown and acts as a liaison with the Forest Service to help them protect this amazing place.
