Waterfalls of Western North Carolina :: Moore Cove Falls

Moore Cove Falls is a sixty foot waterfall in the Pisgah National Forest near Looking Glass Rock. It features a moderate hike of about 0.7 miles ending at a peaceful waterfall where the creek flows over a rock house (a kind of shallow cave). This is a low flow waterfall that will look best after recent rain.

Driving Directions: Take highway 276 north from the town of Brevard, NC into the Pisgah National Forest. At about 5 miles you will come to a fork in the road, stay right to stay on highway 276. Looking Glass Falls has a long, narrow parking area right on the highway to your right. Roughly one mile after this, just before a small bridge, you will see the parking for Moore Cove Falls on the right. If you reach Sliding Rock at about 7.5 miles you have missed it. GPS assisted driving directions are available in my iPhone app.

Park at the pullout and cross the creek on a wooden bridge, then follow the often marshy trail through the woods and across several smaller bridges to the base of Moore Cove Falls.
